SHIP 711 THE DEL MAR
Sea Scout Ship 711 is under the guidance of the Boy Scouts of America and was established in 1962 under the name of Del Mar. Since its inception, the Del Mar has provided generations of young men with well-rounded experience and growth centered around the sea.
Today, the Del Mar is recognized as one of the top ships in the country.
LEARNING
The Del Mar program teaches a wide range of skills spanning all aspects of seamanship - skills that can help transition to a career involving the sea. Del Mar alumni have graduated from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, the U.S. Coast Guard, and prestigious Maritime Academies. Others have gone on to be experts in sail-making or boat manufacture. Whatever your goals, time will the Del Mar crew imparts valuable skills for life.
FRIENDS FOR LIFE
More than anything, Del Mar Scouts are there for each other. Everything they do involves teamwork - sailing, competing, volunteering and learning. Scouts work well with others and appreciate the importance of being dependable and trustworthy. Many scouts form strong friendship bonds and remain in contact long after they have graduated the program.
PERSONAL GROWTH
Del Mar scouts are constantly being challenged; there is always something new to learn, fresh skills to apply, or a chance to meet the demands of responsibility. Integrity and confidence thrive in this environment, and sea scouts experience considerable personal growth as they progress through the Del Mar program.
